Last weekend I was in Ljubljana and ended up in the middle of the biggest flood Slovenia has seen since … I don’t know, forever? Anyway, This is the depiction of that flood by a Slovenian comic book artist Tomaz Lavric whose Diareja comics (yes, that means Diarrhea) entertain the readers of Mladina for the past 30 years now.

TBC, as he is also known, is one of my favorite artists with readily available comic books in French such as: Fables de Bosnie, Temps Nouveaux, Le Décalogue, La Cavale de Lézard, Evropa etc. His other work includes Rdeci Alarm, Ratman, already mentioned Diareja and many more.

The text in the comic says “Greetings from Bled!” to the left (where he depicts a beautiful Slovenian lake Bled) and “Greetings from Ljubljana!” to the right (the capital of Slovenia, which usually isn’t covered by water).
